Designer vs developer. Who do I deploy when?

Posted on December 07, 2021

When is something typical work for the designer and when do you really need a developer?

We asked Benjamin Spies, our Team‑Lead Client Support. “Of course we are talking about Rich Media banners here. The expertise of Weborama. Banner is a container term; a collective name for various online advertising options. From large to small, from a simple image to a completely animated site takeover with animation, video and expandable parts.'

In most cases, a marketing department directs a designer who creates images and product presentations. For brochures, print advertisements, you name it. But online we work with HTML.

And that's a whole different skill.

HTML is a different language. This is the expertise of a developer.

Benjamin: ‘Imagine it as a diorama. There you work with depth differences. All individual parts in a diorama can be arranged in such a way that they all stay valuable. And by moving something a little further forward or back, you get a nice composition.'

An advanced banner works the same way, with only one image as a banner this is not possible.

You need a developer to make the design stand out online. They know exactly how to set it up technically.

So to find out when you also need a developer, ask yourself: do I want an eye-catching, attractive and technically comprehensive banner? Then you not only need a designer, but also a developer!
